Police were alerted by Edgar Estrada, who reported hearing a baby crying inside a vehicle with the outside temperature exceeding 90°F (32°C). Estrada, taking swift action, mounted his horse and rode across the parking lot in search of the distressed infant. His efforts were akin to a modern-day knight rescuing a damsel in distress.
Estrada eventually located the vehicle and was able to open the doors. The car's engine was off, meaning the air conditioning was not running, and the window was only slightly open.
